       Biotin and an enzyme-conjugated streptavidin are used for highly sensitive detection. ARP (Aldehyde Reactive Probe) is one of the aldehyde

and ketone reactive biotins which was developed for abasic site detection of DNA. Abasic site, which is also called AP site, is a depurine/

depyrimidine site which is an intermediate of the base repair processes. ARP reacts at the abasic site of DNA to label biotin at the site.The

biotin-tagged DNA is then detected using enzyle-labeled straptavidin and its enzyme substrate. The ARP method has been used to detect less

than 1 AP site in 1x104 nuclotides of DNA. ARP is used for DNA Damage Quantification Kit-AP site counting (Product code: DK02). This kit

contains all the necessary reagents and components for the determination of 1 to 40 abasic sites per 1x105 base pairs.
